Project Manager - Business Operations

 

At CVS, we are one of the largest integrated veterinary groups in Europe with a turnover in excess of £425M, more than 7000 employees and 500 veterinary practice sites across the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands. Alongside veterinary practices, we also operate pet crematoria, laboratories, a distribution centre, an online business and buying groups.

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Manager to join or Technology Department here at CVS. 

 

Within this role, you will be responsible for the concurrent delivery of multiple small to medium sized change projects in accordance with business needs and in-line with CVS reporting and governance standards. You will execute change initiatives on time, to budget and to the appropriate quality. Whilst you will predominantly work on small and medium sized projects, you will also assist the Head of Projects & Senior Project Managers on large-scale strategic projects where appropriate. This role would ideally suit a junior or Assistant PM looking to take the next step up in their career.

 

Key duties and responsibilities to include:

    • Developing concrete, detailed plans for projects and outlining the duties of each team member
    • Working with IT Service Management to prioritise in-coming small-medium project requests and to identify synergies and dependencies.
    • Manage an existing portfolio of small to medium projects end-to-end
    • Work closely with Property department and Acquisitions department to define IT requirements for new projects
    • Where required assist other business functions to define project scope and requirements
    • Collaborate with various teams and hold meetings to develop project plans and present them to upper-level management before starting the project
    • Assist other Project Manager(s) as required. This may include but is not limited to;
      • clerical duties
      • maintaining contact with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties
      • answering project questions and concerns
      • preparing presentations
      • entering project data
    • Responsible for tracking progress and spending against plan; reporting to the relevant stakeholders as appropriate via individual updates and board packs

 

Skills and experience required:

    • Proven experience of Project Management within a change department
    • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects
    • Prince2, Scrum master, PMP or equivalent qualification
    • Tenacious attitude, able to self-motivate in the face of project obstacles
    • Ability to create clear, concise, and practical presentations
    • Foundational knowledge of Technology solutions and technical capabilities
    • Knowledge and experience in end-to-end Project Management, preferably in a technology setting
    • Proven knowledge of how to convert business needs into functional requirements

 

Location: In the role, you will be home-based with travel to key CVS sites across the UK for relevant project meetings. This will include both practice sites and our service centres in Diss, Norfolk and Wetherby, West Yorks.
