We are extremely proud of the CVS Graduate Programme and have supported over 400 brilliant graduates with the programme since 2015. We are always learning and working hard to constantly evolve the programme each year – in order to provide you with the best support and opportunity for your first years in practice.

These are just some of the practices you could be based in

We have over 450 practice sites across the UK and have some fantastic openings at our practices for the 2018 Graduate Programme. The list would be too long if we named every practice with Graduate Programme opportunities for 2018, so instead, please see below just a handful of the small animal, equine, large animal and mixed practices where positions will be available in 2018. Don’t worry if your preferred practice or location isn’t on the list – you are able to let us know the type of practice and location/s or practice/s you would like to work in when you apply.

These are just some of the benefits of the programme

Benefits of the programme

  • A starting salary of £30,900, rising after year one and then again after year two to over £36,000 (plus the chance to earn added bonus)
  • 10 CPD days a year covering both clinical and non-clinical skills with a selection of CPD days that you can chose from to suit you, your interests and your practice role – such as dedicated small animal, equine and large animal streams

  • The option to undertake short-term externships in OOHs at our dedicated ECC centres and/or specific disciplines at one of our referral hospitals

What do our New Graduates say?

This is what you need to do now

Applications for the CVS Graduate Programme 2019 are now open!

We know that choosing your first role after graduating is an important choice and also believe that recruitment is very much a two way process. Therefore, we aim to make the process of interviewing as informative for you as it is for us. So if you are successful in your application and invited to one of our assessment days, you will not only undertake a series of stretching but enjoyable exercises designed to help us learn more about you but, also, will get the chance to meet some of our experienced vets and leaders, as well as hearing from vets who are currently enrolled on the CVS Graduate Programme.

How do we do it?

Mentoring: Assigned to each graduate when they join the programme, the clinical mentor is there for support to help them overcome obstacles & achieve their goals. It is advised that mentor meetings take place at least once a month.

Soft Skills: In addition to an Induction Day at the start of year one and a Careers Event at the end of year two, four days of professional or soft skills training provided by the VDS are included each year. These sessions focus on non-clinical aspects of veterinary life including resilience, communication, assertiveness and dealing with difficult situations

Clinical CPD: Each graduate can attend up to five clinical CPD events a year from a range of topics, two days of which can be attendance at a conference
