Small Animal Referral Orthopaedic Surgeon – Dovecote Veterinary Hospital, East Midlands, UK


Dovecote Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full or part-time referral orthopaedic veterinary surgeon to join our dedicated pet health care team.


Our orthopaedic team includes an ECVS Diplomat and one ECVS resident. The service is also supported by an ECVS Diplomat soft tissue surgeon.  Aside from orthopaedics and soft tissue, our team also includes 24-hour emergency care and specialists in Neurology, Oncology and Dermatology. We also offer a referral service in Internal Medicine.


The hospital is equipped with16-slice CT, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, on-site diagnostic laboratory, and advanced monitoring equipment. This winter we opened our new 1.5T MRI scanner showing our commitment to advancing our specialist service provision. With three bright and spacious surgical suites available and a full complement of surgical equipment for both soft tissue and orthopaedic caseload, we are well equipped to serve the high demand for surgical specialists in our market. We see referral cases from practices across the Midlands and are a clinical associate practice for University of Nottingham Veterinary School.


Dovecote Veterinary Hospital is part of the CVS Referrals network, so you will be joining a large network of multiple specialists across our seven UK referral locations. We are located in the heart of the Midlands, 10 minutes from East Midlands Airport, 30 minutes from the Peak District and 20 minutes from both Nottingham and Derby.


The full-time position being offered is 40 hours, 4 days per week, although the number of hours per day and days per week is negotiable. Benefits include a very competitive salary and bonus package, no out-of-hours, an excellent company pension scheme, company share-save scheme, 10 days CPD with generous budget and up to 7 weeks annual leave (+ Bank Holidays). If you are relocating, we are also able to offer generous financial support towards this.


To be considered, you will need to have ECVS or ACVS board certification or eligibility, alternatively Advanced Veterinary Practitioners will also be considered. You must be registered with the RCVS and eligible to work in the UK
