Question 3
What do you think you will need to be a great Out of Hours Vet/Nurse?
A:
Clinical training
We have this in volumes! We assess the clinical skills of all applicants and when we offer out positions, we also discuss (and support) any training that we feel will be necessary to allow our vets and nurses to succeed in their roles. We provide excellent in-house training support through our own ‘MiNightVet Academy’ and through our Nursing Excellence courses, and we also work with external providers to deliver personalised training and development plans.
B:
Support to help with making clinical decisions on my own
You are never alone! All MiNightVet clinics have a vet and nurse on site at all times – so there is always somebody to remind you how fabulous you are and to support the delivery of excellent clinical care. There are also around 20 other vets/nurses working in our other Out of Hours clinics whilst you are on shift – so albeit that you may need to pick up the phone or use technology to view the same images, you have just as much opportunity for a second opinion as working in the daytime! Our MiNightVet vets and nurses get a buzz from working together in small teams and are often amazed by how much they can achieve together. By using our skills to their full we achieve better, together!
C:
I’d like to complete further qualifications in Emergency and Critical Care
That’s fantastic news - we are always happy to support those who have caught the Out of Hours ‘bug’ and our MiNightVet roles offer the perfect caseload to support you to develop and utilise your increasing skillset, such as fully funding and supporting Cert AVP (ECC).
